One thing I love is a good patty so when I heard about a day all about this delicious gift from above, 2 questions came to mind after in initial excitement - 1) Is this real? 2) Is there a national plantain day (no shade but I love plantains even more)? Either way, I NEEDED to know more.
Did you know that today is the 3rd annual National Jamaican Patty Day? It was submitted by the Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery in 2015. Their vision is to “provide the taste of the Caribbean to the world” and became the first Caribbean-owned business in the U.S. to receive granted a franchise license.
Since we’re talking about Jamaica, let’s get into ‘Anya Goes to Jamaica’(nice segue if I do say so myself). In this book readers get to join Anya as she experiences the food, beaches, culture and lots more on her trip.
This is the 1st release from the the series Anya's World Adventures by Nikko FungChung which follows Anya around the world where she learns about different cultures and people with the help of her trusty magic globe.
At the end of each trip, she always gets a souvenir to take home. What we absolutely love about this series is that readers can also purchase and collect the same souvenirs as well! The author actually researches local businesses in each country that makes unique goodies. So every time you purchase a souvenir you support a small business too. This is the souvenir from Jamaica - too cute!
After her trip to Jamaica, Anya casually travelled to India (#goals) and ironically today you can decide where her next adventure will be! Voting begins today so make sure to head on over to their website to have your say! I’m voting for the British Virgin Islands (biased) and Thailand.
If you had nothing planned for today now you do (you're welcome). After voting for Anya's next trip you can visit any Golden Krust in your area and they'll be celebrating with patty eating contests, giveaways, and free samples! If you don't have any in your area you can always visit your local Jamaican restaurant.
Where are you voting for Anya to go next and how are you celebrating today?
